Before Your Hearing

Your hearing will be held about one month after filing. You are required to attend this hearing. No exceptions and no excuses. You must present a photo ID and proof of your social security number (a W-2 or the actual card will be accepted).

Getting the Case Discharged

After your hearing you still to make sure that all judgments have been avoided (check with our office on this), you have signed a reaffirmation agreement on any cars or homes you intend to keep, and that you have completed the second credit counseling course and provided our office with a copy of the certificate.

After Case Discharge

After your case is discharged you are still not done!  You need to ensure that all of your creditors are reporting correctly on your report.  We recommend that you pull a copy of your report 6 weeks after your case is discharged.

Explanation of Hearing Notice You Will Receive

You should receive a hearing notice about 1 week after your case is filed. Make sure you review it, calendar your hearing date, and know how to get to court. Below is a sample of what you will receive and what you need to pay attention to.

Once your case is filed there are a variety of issues that can come up which require additional legal work and motions.
